and she just keeps spending money

she wakes him by text at 6:30am on saturday morning to ask him to make sure the front door is not double locked because she is on her way home... the animals will not let him go back to sleep, so there goes another week without a day to sleep in... he is getting too old to be healthy without a day or two off each week, but so many are dependent on him... what will they do if he dies suddenly... what will she do... alas... last weekend was a weekend out of town visiting her family... animals make for early rising every day... then this week, several days down south visiting friends... she just got home and her animal children are beside themselves with excitement to see her and she says hi, pets them, gives him a half a hug, and heads straight to bed, exhausted, saying she has to be up in a few hours to take someone to lunch... he wonders where all the money is coming from because when she finally agreed to work out a budget with him, she did not have the income to cover her all of her unavoidable spending (rent, gas for work, food, student loans, consolidated debt payments, and so on)... things like haircuts, manicures, trips out of town and vacation costs, entertainment and recreation, animal food and care, and everything else that makes up a full life were not included in the basic budget... there was just not enough income to stretch that far... so he pays for those things because she takes all of that out of rent each month and that's how it's been for years... unless she borrows, and then she gives usus the borrowed money to pay part of her share of the rent... he pays all of the utilities and extras, including all emergency expenses... she's been to debt counseling... it has not changed her habits... she resists and avoids any discussion of help offered by him... but she takes his money and lets him pay all the bills... he wonders what will happen when he can no longer work...
