he thinks she is so addicted to caffeine in high regular doses and has been for so long it has upset created chemical imbalances in her that affect her behavior and emotions... she knows she is addicted, but does not want to associate her inability to maintain mental focus on details and her mood swings with caffeine side effects... she attributes them to mental illness, adhd, anxiety disorder, depression... so she takes psychotropic medications to try to alleviate the symptoms and blames herself for the failures that come from inability to focus and extreme anxiety and that fuels her depression... he believes adhd, anxiety, and depression are all side effects of caffeine addiction and wishes she would try to wean off and go without caffeine for a year or two... she does not see that as a possibility... she says drinking coffee just before bedtime doesn't affect her sleep... he wonders about rem sleep... she just increases the strength and amount of coffee she drinks and stresses over not being able to stay awake and concentrate... they are both sad over this, though likely for different reasons...
