the truth is a matter of perspective and each of us have a different perspective, even when we think alike... she doesn't want to know how much it hurts, so she numbs herself and in doing so, is insensitive to her own pain and in turn, to his... he numbs himself too, but there is a consciousness he can not and will not turn off that gnaws at him in the silent hours of the night and flashes blinding emptiness that becomes a momentary distraction in the business of the day... perhaps he is showing the first signs of dimentia, which, ironically or sadly or both, may simply be prolonged numbness, whether consciously chosen or not... she is heading there too, though she calls it adhd and other technical terms... that is just an easy way of giving up responsibility and remaining numb... he just knows it's a choice... she doesn't want to know...
