nothing changes

he did it to himself again, trusting as he does, giving as he does, he let another in and she stole thousands of dollars, just took them, after he gave her tens thousands of dollars and left himself struggling to make ends meet... at least this time he did not leave himself with nothing and is doing his best to stop giving, but giving is his nature and nothing changes... she shows no signs of change... she does not talk about it... she offers no reassurance on her own and reacts as she always did, with defensiveness and self-abuse when he occasionally tries to bring it up... she apparently just wants to go on living under his roof eating his food and enjoying the amenities without paying for anything and now, without even addressing the fact that she stole and did not stop until she was caught... would she have stopped before she took everything... they will never know... but the fact that she still avoids the reality each day and only gives defensive cursory words of reassurance when he brings it up tells him nothing changes... she wants to pretend something has changed, but nothing changes... and it hurts...
