the way to maintain a blog

there are lots of web pages out there, volumes of writing supposedly filled with the secrets of blogging, how to keep it up, how to attract an audience, how to blog... for me, it is simple... pretend someone wants to know what i am writing about, whatever it is... pretend there is someone out there who waits for these words, with or without baited breath, and therefore i have a reason, purpose, obligation, even, to come to this place and type some words into the box below the 'publish' button... of course there is always the purely narcissistic reason for blogging, simply to stroke ego and pretend the world, nay, the universe needs to know what is on my mind or even the simple personal solitary reflective reason for coming here... to let the experience of this life i loosely call mine come out into words so i might see the reflection my mind imagines others might see now and from a future perspective... yeah, so that's the secret of blogging, at least for the moment... or maybe it's just to say happy birthday... as if one day is more celebratory than any other... but that is another story for another time... another blog entry even... for now, fork or no fork, this one is done...
